The tomato plant I put in the ground has a bunch of tomatoes on it now. It amazes me how well it has done the past few weeks. I think I counted 8 tomatoes.
And although the container tomato plant doesn't look as good as it once did, I think it's going to give me my first full-size tomato this year. I've had to pull off about six little tomatoes that had blossom end rot, but so far I haven't found any others with that condition. (Cross fingers.)
And I wish I knew why with two bowls of fresh water on the front porch, Muffin instead chooses to drink rain water out of an old broken bird feeder on the deck. Maybe she doesn't like the chlorine that comes with us being on city water. Maybe she's just nuts....

The maters look great and you should have some yummy meals out of your crop. My summer tomatoes are about all, but I have a good crop of Long Keepers coming on for the fall/winter time. Ever tried those ... I did years ago and was impressed and just this year found them again at a local green house. (Check Burpee's catalog)
Yep, my dog does the "I'll drink the rain water instead of the fresh water, thank you" thing too. I'm like "What in the world!?!?!".
Don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, or my maters before they ripen, but I'm kind of excited about this lot. Not one sign of the blossom end rot on the ones from the plant that's in the ground, so next year I'm thinking NO CONTAINER TOMATOES. We'll see if that works out better.
Yeah, animals are nuts. Neighbor's dog used to get down in the creek to drink that rather dirty water (It comes from the mines above us.) then get stuck because of his arthritic back legs. My husband had to get down in the creek and bring him up twice.
