We've come a long way, Baby.

And it's about darn time.

In the grand scheme of things, it wasn't that long ago when signs like this were a common thing in the south. My mother was born and raised in this type of environment, and many members of her family are still of this mindset, but thankfully Mom never was. She and I may not have gotten along at times, but because of her I have never felt this type of thing was right. Thanks Mom.

And now we have elected our first African-American president. Yes, we have come a long way, and hopefully the future will remain as bright as it looks right now.

Another good thing...the political phone calls are now over.

I grew up in that segregated South, never questioning the right or wrong of it till the Civil Rights movement woke me up.

I'm delighted to have an African-American president but the truth is, I would have voted for him even if he were white because of his personality, his intellect, the honorable campaign he ran, and his vision for the future.

The end of an error, in more ways than one.

I have to agree with you about Obama. He ran a good campaign, his ideas for our country's future, etc...it all added up to the very best choice.

I think the country was ready for a change-Obama or not.* years is about tops for one party then we which. There is one thing about the election.NOBODY can say Obama got in because of a racial issue .If you noticed the election map most of the South voted for Mccain.remember the south is supposed to be conservative not counting the black poulation there also.

Yeah, 8 years is enough. Last thing we needed was a George Bush wannabe. Race aside, Obama was just the right person for the job. What a great piece of history to witness, though.

On another election note, I've been watching the news on Prop 8 and am very saddened by what has happened. With the presidency, we took a step forward. With Prop 8 and others like it, we've come a step back. Still a long way to go.
